Area players make contributions to Finlandia football team

HANCOCK — Finlandia sophomore and Newberry native Dave Carlson made eight tackles, including two solo, in the Lions’ 45-12 home loss to Ripon (Wisconsin) College at home on Saturday.

Senior teammate and Westwood product Addison Martin had two assisted tackles in the game.

In Finlandia’s opener, a 38-7 loss at Concordia, Wisconsin, Carlson led the Lions with nine tackles, four solo, including 1 1/2 tackles for a loss.

Martin also made two assisted tackles that game, one for a loss.

On offense vs. Concordia, FU freshman and L’Anse graduate Reese Waara made a pass reception for 11 yards.
