MARQUETTE — Medalist Jan Hruska and three other women advanced in the first round of match play Friday in the Marquette Golf Club’s Ladies Club Championship tournament.

Playing on the club’s Greywalls course, the four matches held were all in the championship flight. Play in that flight along with the start of other flights in the tourney commences today.

The eight championship flight competitors qualified by shooting the lowest scores last weekend during qualifying.

On Friday, Hruska defeated Mary Rombouts, Nicole Noble defeated Sheila Grazulis, Karla McCutcheon defeated Jenny Marietta and Kristen Bjorne defeated Kris Saint Onge.

Today, the matches include Hruska vs. Noble and McCutcheon vs. Bjorne with these matches first teeing off at 10:50 a.m.

The finals are set for 1 p.m. Sunday.
