Waterman, Williams support Blue Sox pitcher Speaker

NEGAUNEE — Keira Waterman and Layla Williams each went 2 for 3 to support winning pitcher Maijah Speaker as the Blue Sox of Negaunee defeated Marquette Red 5-1 in a Little League Minors softball game played the week of June 23.
Waterman included a double in her pair of hits.
Also during that week, Tino’s of Negaunee blanked the Blue Sox 6-0.
During the week of June 30, Tino’s bounced Marquette Gray 12-0.
In Majors softball during the June 23 week, Cailee Perry and Hailey Crawford each had RBIs in GE Builders’ 13-10 win over Ishpeming 2. In the same matchup that week, GE scored a 7-6 win over Ishpeming.
For the week of June 30, GE Builders scored a 16-7 win over Ishpeming 1.
In Majors baseball for the week of June 23, Luke Menard hit a pair of inside-the-park homers as Cliffs of Negaunee bounced Eagle Mine of Marquette 17-9, while Honor Credit Union of Gwinn played to a 10-10 tie vs. UPPCO of Negaunee.
In Minors baseball from the June 23 week, Black Diamond Car Wash edged the Negaunee Elks 5-4, while Bell Physicians Practices of Negaunee tied Negaunee VFW 8-8.
