Negaunee alumni take the field

NEGAUNEE — The Negaunee Alumni Softball Tournament got off to an exciting start Saturday as the Negaunee Public Schools staff defeated the 2019 Miners 6-5 in extra innings.

Luke Anderson went 3 for 3 at the plate for the staff and drove in the winning run. Jake Skewis went 2 for 3 with a home run and Kyle Bell also went 2 for 3. Bell also picked up the win in the circle for the staff.

Hannah Voskuhl and Jordon Mason led the 2019 team with both players going 2 for 2. Logan Fish was the 2019’s defensive star as he made several nice plays, while playing shortstop.

The 2019 team moves on to play the 2018 Miners at 10 a.m. today.

In other action, the Class of 1973-75 team earned a forfeit and will play at 11 a.m., while the 2010 squad topped the 2011 team and will play at noon. The final game of the day involved the 1990 team defeating the 1991-92 squad 13-5. The class of ’90 plays at 1 p.m.
