Marquette County Mavericks, Channing Railroaders post wins Monday in Superiorland Baseball League

GWINN — Starting pitcher Riley Lynch and reliever Steve Hintsala combined on a six-hitter as the Marquette County Mavericks defeated the Negaunee Blasters 6-3 in a Superiorland Baseball League played at the Forsyth Township Ball Field Complex on Monday evening.

In the other game reported from Monday, the Channing Railroaders beat Coldwell Banker-Craig Heinonen 11-0 in five innings as visiting CBCH managed just to get just one hit while drawing one walk.

In Gwinn, Lynch tossed five innings to get the win as he allowed three runs on five hits and a walk as he struck out eight. Hintsala went the final two innings, allowing no runs on one hit and no walks as he fanned two.

James Bender started for the Blasters, allowing six runs on 10 hits and three walks as he chalked up one K. Duane Englund pitched the sixth, allowing no runs and one hit, one walk and one strikeout.

Lynch and Aaron “Goose” Adriano starred at the plate for the Mavs, each going 3 for 4 and scoring a run. Lynch had two doubles, while Adriano added an RBI.

Teammates Brad Jalonen, who doubled and collected an RBI, and James Larsen II both went 2 for 4.

Jaron Kipling led Negaunee’s offense with a double and a run scored.
