Negaunee LL marks opening days
NEGAUNEE — The Negaunee Little League will hold a pair of opening ceremonies for various baseball and softball program.
Ceremonies will be held at the Negaunee Township Ball Field Complex on M-35.
The Minor, Major and Junior divisions will have their event from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, while T-ball and Developmental divisions will have its ceremonies from 4 to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 23.
Events those days will include first pitch thrown, announcement of players and coaches, recognition of 2018 Sanction teams and a parents meeting.
Some of the games and activities to be held include an inflatable slide, obstacle course, skills competition, yard games and home run derby.
Complimentary hot dogs will be available for players, with concessions to also include snow cones, cotton candy, chips and popcorn.
Brothers and sisters of players are also welcome and can take part in all activities except for skills competitions and home run derby.
NMU’s Elsner ends college career
HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — Northern Michigan University senior golfer Austin Elsner closed out his collegiate career Friday at the NCAA Division II Central/Midwest Regional.
Out of 108 competitors, Elsner tied for 66th place. He shot a 78 on the first day, another 78 on the second and then shot a 73 on the final day for a total score of 229.
