Royal 1, Wonder Bar win Ishpeming semis

NEGAUNEE — Royal 1 and Wonder Bar won semifinal matches to move onto the championship round in the Upper Division of the Ishpeming Men’s Pool League on April 3.
In the Lower Division, Jack’s 3 and Tilden Club advanced.
Royal 1, which won the regular season, scored a 15-9 win over Jack’s 1, Wonder Bar edged Jack’s 2 13-9, Jack’s 3 zipped past Riverside 14-10 and Tilden Club pummeled Paradise 15-2.
Tom Auston of Royal 1 and Shane “Cheezer” Blemke of Jack’s 1 each had break-and-runs.
In the Darryll Larson Memorial Singles Tournament held March 16 at Wonder Bar, Bill Olson of Jack’s 1 was the champion, Paul Richards of Jack’s 1 was runner-up and Glen Fisk of Royal 1 finished third in a field of 27.
In league tourney play on March 20, Royal 1 doubled up Venice 16-8 and Jack’s 3 held off Rainbow 14-10.
On March 13 in the regular season, Tony Laurin of Royal 2 had a break-and-run.
His Royal 2 team tied Wayside 12-12. In other matches, Jack’s 1 tripled up Tilden Club 18-6, Wonder Bar got by Royal 1 14-10, Venice eased past Riverside 14-10, Rainbow arced around Paradise 14-10 and Jack’s 2 won the civil war vs. Jack’s 3 13-11.
In league play on March 6, Auston and Troy Richardson of Rainbow each had break-and-runs.
Royal 1 tripled up Rainbow 18-6, Jack’s 1 tripped Venice 17-7, Wonder Bar doubled up Tilden Club 16-8, Wayside eased through with a 13-11 win over Jack’s 3, and two matches ended in 12-12 ties — Royal 2 vs. Riverside and Jack’s 2 vs. Paradise.
On Feb. 27, Stone had a break-and-run, while Steve Harris of Venice had an 8-ball break.
Royal 1 walloped Wayside 20-4, Jack’s 1 whipped Paradise 19-5, Jack’s 2 got by with a 15-9 win over Royal 2, Venice squeaked past Wonder Bar 14-10 and two more matches ended in 12-12 ties — Jack’s 3 vs. Riverside and Tilden Club vs. Rainbow.
In league play on Feb. 20, Joe Bauer had an 8-ball break.
Jack’s 1 scored a big 21-3 win over Royal 2, Royal 1 tripled up for an 18-6 victory over Jack’s 2, Wonder Bar thumped Riverside 18-6, Rainbow slid past Venice 15-9, Tilden Club eased by for a 14-10 win over Jack’s 3 and Paradise nipped Wayside 13-11.
Negaunee Men’s Pool League
Leo Fields of Eagles 2 had a break-and-run on Feb. 6.
Results from that night include Pasquali’s 1 tripling up for an 18-6 win over Eagles 2, Pasquali’s 3 doubling up in a 16-8 win over Pasquali’s 4, Smarties upending Cascade 1 15-9 and Eagles 1 edgingPasquali’s 2 14-10.
On Jan. 16, Bill Johnson of Pasquali’s 3 had a break-and-run.
On that night, Smarties scored an 18-6 victory over Pasquali’s 4, Cascade 1 got a 16-8 win over Cascade 2, Pasquali’s 1 took a 16-8 win over Pasquali’s 3 and Pasquali’s 2 and Eagles 2 tied 12-12.
