SC’s Fink, Groulx nab UPSSA 8-Player awards

MARQUETTE — The majority of the football programs around the Central U.P. play at the 11-player level, so sometimes 8-player teams like Superior Central can sometimes get disregarded.

However, two Cougars did get recognized for their accomplishments at the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association annual meeting Wednesday as Roubens Fink and Noah Groulx both made the 8-Player Dream Team.

Fink earned two spots as a running back and a kick/punt returner, while Groulx got honored as a linebacker/defensive back.

Fink finished with more than 1,500 total yards, 18 rushing touchdowns and eight passing touchdowns.

As a return specialist, he had 129 yards on punt returns with 1 touchdown and 701 yards on kick returns with three touchdowns.

Groulx wrapped up his career with 130 tackles, 96 solo tackles, two sacks, two force fumbles, two fumble recoveries and five pass breakups.
