Junior Gold bowling comes to River Rock

ISHPEMING — A Junior Gold qualifying tournament for youth bowlers will be held at River Rock Lanes in Ishpeming on Sunday, Oct. 21.

The Junior Gold national tournament has been held at various sites around the country and will be closer to home in Detroit in July.

The qualifier at River Rock begins at 9:30 a.m. and costs $65 per person or $75 after Sunday. Bowlers must also hold or purchase a U.S. Bowling Congress youth membership and Junior Gold membership, one-time fees for the season.

The qualifier’s opening round is six games across three pairs of lanes, generally on a more difficult Sport shot, with the top finishers advancing to a stepladder finals.

The number of boys and girls qualifiers in various age divisions depend on the number of entries.

This will also be a Hunter Negri Memorial Scholarship event, with scholarship funds distributed to top finishers in Ishpeming.

For more information or to enter, call Clay at River Rock at 486-8000.
