MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University women’s lacrosse team has a two-game, four-day road trip to Ohio and Missouri starting this weekend.

The Wildcats travel to just outside of St. Louis in St. Charles, Missouri, to face Lindenwood at 2 p.m. EST Saturday.

They head northeast from there to metropolitan Cleveland in South Euclid, Ohio, for a game against Notre Dame College at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

It will be Northern’s first meeting with Lindenwood, ranked No. 3 in NCAA Division II after a 15-4 win over Tiffin.

NMU defeated Notre Dame 22-10 last year and NDC has already played and defeated Madonna University 16-4.

Live statistics and video are scheduled to be available for the Lindenwood game. Coverage of the team is also available on Twitter at @NMU_Wildcats.

Northern opened its regular season Sunday with a tough 14-13 double-overtime loss to Wheeling Jesuit of West Virginia in a nonconference game played in suburban Detroit.

NMU scored eight second-half goals, including one by freshman Emily Dvorak with 21 seconds left in regulation that forced OT. After the first six-minute sudden-death extra period, the Cardinals scored a minute into OT No. 2 for the victory.

Following a first half where neither team led by more than a goal, Wheeling opened up a 10-6 lead not long after halftime. But the Wildcats responded with five straight goals in just over six minutes, including two by Ellie Bahr, to take an 11-10 lead.

Dvorak finished with a team-high four goals and three assists, while two other freshmen, Bahr and Bianca Kinder, each netted three goals. Sophomore Graison Ringlever had two goals and an assist.

Freshman goalkeeper Emily Karbaum debuted with 17 saves for a saves percentage of 54.8, also leading the team with four ground balls, two caused turnovers and twice stealing WJU passes in the air.

Ringlever led the team with five draw controls after making 30 all of last season, while Kinder had four and Dvorak three.
