Negaunee runners sweep Escanaba Invite

ESCANABA — The Negaunee cross country teams swept the two races at the Escanaba Invitational Saturday morning.
The Miner girls won the six-team race with 40 points and also took the top two individual spots. Emily Paupore finished first with a time of 19:13, while Clara Johnson took second at 19:38.
Escanaba finished second with 70 points, followed by Munising in third with 76.
Munising took the next two individual spots as Madeleine Peramaki finished third at 20:45 and Alyssa Webber finished fourth at 20:46.
On the boys side, Negaunee also won fairly handily. The Miners finished with 32 points in the seven-team race with Esky taking second at 65 and Munising third with 99.
Negaunee’s Colton Yesney won the race with a time of 16:10, while teammate Eric Anderson took second at 17:25.
