Swim clinic planned July 28

MARQUETTE — The first ever Swim Teal Lake: Benefit for Diabetes Swim Clinic will occur on Friday, July 28.

The clinic will run from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Marquette Senior High School pool. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the cost is $30 with all proceeds benefiting the U.P. Diabetes Outreach Network.

The participants will be split into three groups: Novice (ages 9-12 with at least one year of competitive swimming, Advanced (ages 13-18) and Masters (ages 18 and over).

The main focus will be on freestyle and open water swimming techniques. Each person will have in -water training led by Northern Michigan University coaches Heidi Voigt and Matt Williams along with dry land training that will be provided by AdvantEdge. Lunch will also be there and 3-time Olympic competitor Gary Hall Jr. will speak.
