NMU spikers bow on road
FINDLAY, Ohio – After winning the first set, the Northern Michigan University women’s volleyball team dropped three in a row in a 3-1 GLIAC loss to host Findlay (Ohio) on Saturday.
After the Wildcats (10-6, 2-5 GLIAC) of head coach Dominic Yoder won a tight first set, 25-22, the Oilers rallied to win the second, 25-19.
The two teams traded points in a hard-fought third set before Findlay edged the Wildcats, 26-24.
Northern and the Oilers again traded points early in the fourth set, but the Oilers pulled ahead to best the Wildcats, 25-18.
Anna Aycock posted 14 kills for NMU, while Madison Whitehead also reached double digits with 13 kills and a .476 hitting percentage.
Wildcat Kayla Chosa posted nine kills and Lisa Studnica recorded eight.
Jami Hogeboom led the team with 38 assists.
The Wildcats return to action when they open a two-game homestand against Malone at 7 p.m. Friday at Vandament Arena.
