Gwinn football game forfeited
GWINN – Friday night’s Mid-Peninsula Conference high school football game between Iron Mountain and host Gwinn was canceled.
Gwinn High School athletic director Rob Soyring confirmed the cancellation in an email, but referred questions about the situation to Superintendent Tom Jayne when school opens Tuesday.
It is believed the game was canceled due to the death of a 4-year-old Forsyth Township girl when a safety partition being installed at the high school gymnasium fell on her Thursday morning.
Iron Mountain High School athletic director Chris Hartman said the resulting game cancellation would be deemed a forfeit.
