Slater, Hamming help Buck’s Party Store outlast U.P. Home Health

ISHPEMING – Maria Slater and Liz Hamming belted triples to spark Buck’s Party Store to a 19-16 win over U.P. Home Health on Aug. 5 in the Iron Range Women’s Softball League.

Mandie Meyer slammed a three-run homer and teammate Megan Reilly added a triple for the winners.

In other Class A action, Jasper Ridge Brewery held off Quality Car Care, 16-11, behind four hits with a homer by both Megan Chapman and LeAnn Saarela. Amber Emanuelson added five hits.

Gina Debelak had three hits and Becky Moyle two for QCC.

Britney Racine posted four hits – including two triples – and Meagan Petros chipped in four hits with a three-bagger as Screened Image blasted Venice I, 19-6.

Beth Christianson went 3 for 3 with a double and Abbie Salisbury chipped in two hits for Venice I.

Sisters outlasted Jubilee Foods, 21-20, as the winners’ Ashley Nylander blasted four hits, including a homer and triple, while teammate Sandie Whitford added a pair of doubles.

For Jubilee, Kelly Hebert went 5 for 5 and Sue Rice homered.

Tabi Guidebeck and Kaylin Marshall recorded four hits apiece as Cliffs Natural Resources dumped Pasquali’s, 24-11. Cassy Sandberg, Lacey Pietro and Katie Tongue added three hits each for the winners.

For Pasquali’s, Mikayla Miilu cracked a homer and a double.

In Class B, Crossfit 906 ripped Honkala Construction, 35-3, as Kim Koski slammed three over-the-fence home runs among her five hits. Teammates Hilary Richardson and Lizzy VanBuren also posted five safeties each.

Carla Honkala and Jill Kangas turned in three hits apiece for the vanquished.

Ann Herman posted two hits and Kathy LaPine got the game-winning safety as AAA Insurance trimmed Dave’s Collision, 6-5, in nine innings. Dina Hampton went 3 for 4 for Dave’s.

Jack’s TeePee got a home run from Jordann Grigg in a 15-8 triumph over Chapper’s, though Tayler Gray, Ashley Talus and Ashley Asgaard produced three hits each for Chapper’s.

Nichi Sundberg belted a game-winning grand slam in Venice III’s 16-14 victory over Paradise. Jen Polkki went 5 for 5 with a double and Rachel Hytinen added four hits with a double for Paradise.

The Negaunee Eagles drubbed Signs Unlimited, 20-3, as winning pitcher Sue Bazinette was supported by a four-hit, two-homer day from Joy Prisk; three hits including a homer from Michelle Augustyn; and two hits including a roundtripper from Chastity Ellet.

For Signs Unlimited, Bethy Finnala turned in two safeties and Becca LaChapelle added a homer.

In Class C, Red Rock Lanes toppled Wooden Nickel, 13-4, as Brianna Johnson supported winning hurler Emily Rushford with three hits, including a triple.

Melissa Montevideo hit a double and knocked in two runs for Wooden Nickel.

Loretta Willey belted two homers and Cassidy Hahn made 12 of the opponent’s 21 outs in the field as Congress Pizza bumped U.P. Fabricating, 11-8. Jessica Johnson homered and Gina Schwanot tripled for U.P. Fabricating.

Martin Sports beat Rookie’s, 18-13, as Taryn Moyle collected five hits including a triple and Sarah Massie had four with a homer. Kennan Marana homered and Ally Solander tripled for Rookie’s.

Willey’s Tire Shop edged Xccelerated Fitness, 6-4, behind three hits by Penny Comment and two by Ashley Juchemich. Shirley Reno and Anna Drew both went 3 for 3 with an RBI for Xccelerated.

Kim Niemi went 3 for 3, Niki Mattila clubbed two doubles and Brittany Niskes had two hits to lead Venice II to a 13-6 triumph over Creative Industries. CI’s Justine Springer had a pair of hits.

Bertucci Construction got a grand slam from Kinsie Bertucci, as well as three hits apiece by Kayla Bertucci and Ella Bertucci, in a 12-8 win over Palomaki Family Chiropractic.

Katie Trudgeon and Jenni Quayle both went 3 for 3 for Palomaki.

In a makeup game, Xccelerated Fitness crushed Creative Industries, 32-7, behind triples by Reno, Andrea Bourdeau and Carla Lovern.

Emily Liquia tripled and Vanessa Bennett doubled for the Creative Industries.
