NMU swimming: Wildcats honor senior swimmer at intrasquad meet
MARQUETTE – Senior Meghan Cepela was honored Saturday during a Northern Michigan University swimming and diving intrasquad meet at the PEIF Pool in Marquette.
It was the final home event this season for the NMU squad.
Cepela notched a personal best in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 28.44, placing third in the event.
“The girls all swam well,” Wildcat head coach Heidi Voigt said. “They look ready to compete for the conference coming up in a couple of weeks.
“It was great to honor Meghan in her final home meet and that she was able to get a career best.”
NMU junior Megan Crowder added a career best in the 100 butterfly, finishing in 1:05.16 for fourth place.
Junior Debbi Lawrence posted three wins, taking the 50 fly (26.63), 100 individual medley (1:00.79) and 500 freestyle (5:18.43).
Junior Emily Bourguignon was also a double winner, claiming the 50 free (25.30) and 100 free (54.23).
Junior Sophia Garris won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 134.11.
