MARQUETTE -- A Northern Michigan University football lineman has been honored by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with one of its weekly awards.
Sophomore Nathan Pralle of Sarasota, Florida, was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in a 45-12 victory against Wayne State on the road in Detroit on Saturday afternoon.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound defensive lineman recorded a season-high two quarterback sacks among three total tackles that went for a loss, resulting in 15 negative yards for the Warriors.
For the day, he had six tackles, most for the Wildcats on this day, including two solo, along with a pass breakup.
NMU Sports Information in its release about the award noted that he had one of his tackles for a loss on the opening play of the game from scrimmage, then two plays later, joined teammate Brock Gauthier in sacking WSU QB Nikkos Davis for a sack on third down to force a punt.
Pralle's second sack came on the Warriors' next possession, setting the tone as Northern allowed just 167 yards offense by Wayne State while the Wildcats offense rolled up 602 yards.
For the season, Pralle has made 39 tackles and 2 1/2 QB sacks. His tackles rank fourth for NMU, sacks are second, while he also has a team-leading seven tackles for loss, two pass breakups and two QB hurries.
He transferred from NCAA Division III Wisconsin Lutheran College of Milwaukee in the offseason. In 2025, he made 35 tackles in 10 games for the 5-5 Warriors, including 8 1/2 for loss and 1 1/2 sacks.
