Wolverines open season tonight hosting WMU

ANN ARBOR (AP) -- The No. 16 Michigan football team hosts Western Michigan tonight in coach Kyle Whittingham’s debut with the Wolverines.

Whittingham was hired shortly after stepping down at Utah, replacing fired and arrested coach Sherrone Moore.

Western Michigan returns starting quarterback Broc Lowry and starting running back Jalen Buckley.

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Ann Arbor, with TV coverage on NBC.
