MARQUETTE — Buying stock in Josie Lakosky, Inc., is probably getting expensive.

The junior attacker on the Northern Michigan University lacrosse team has reached dizzying heights as she has already set several Wildcats’ goal-scoring records and now has been named the conference Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season.

Her latest honor comes after she set NMU single-game scoring marks with nine goals and 13 points in a 21-4 win over Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Davenport in the Superior Dome on Friday afternoon.

Two days later, when Northern narrowly missed defeating league frontrunner Grand Valley State for the first time ever, losing 9-8, she surpassed the Wildcats’ single-season goal-scoring mark when she notched her 73rd tally.

Now at 76 goals, she takes over the top spot from Minnie Bittell, who had 72 in 2024.

And while doing all this, she also eclipsed 100 points this season, getting to 103, setting her sights on Bittell’s season record 108 points, also established in ’24. Lakosky’s total in just the two weekend games was 19 points — 14 goals and five assists.

Not too surprisingly, Lakosky leads all of NCAA Division II with her goals total, goals per game, points, points per game, and shots on goal per game.

A couple other team records she recently also took over include her 134 shots on goal this season, and not mentioned before, but her 44 ground balls, which is tied for No. 1 in a season in program history.

She’s also one away from tying the draw controls record of 85 and caused turnovers of 29, then just nine off the season assist record of 36 and 16 away from the season shots total of 171.

Even looking at career records, pretty amazing as Lakosky is still only a junior, her 190 goals is within striking distance of Bittell’s record 219.

She won her GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week honors in Weeks 1, 6, 8 and this week, 9, adding in the National Offensive Player of the Week from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association a week ago.
