MARQUETTE — Usually with a vast majority of its meets being on the road, this season the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams at Northern Michigan University are giving their home pool at the PEIF a real workout.

Counting a preseason exhibition, these Wildcats are getting more than a week’s worth of home swimming with several changes to their schedule.

NMU Sports Information announced last week that this Saturday’s meet against Wisconsin-Stevens Point has been shifted from Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to Marquette, with a start time of 2 p.m.

In addition, Northern has added a Last Chance Invite meet scheduled between the GLIAC and NCAA Division II meets for Saturday, Feb. 21, at 3 p.m.

This is a meet where swimmers and divers have a final chance to put up NCAA-qualifying performances before the nationals meet field is set. As of last week, NMU SI had confirmed that both the Wildcats and Lake Superior State will attend, with a definite possibility of additions from other schools in the region.
