That’s because the Wildcats won two of their three dual meets in a format that allowed multiple two-team matches to be held in a single day.
Nationally ranked No. 12 NMU dropped Davenport 33-8, lost to No. 7 McKendree 37-6 and shut out Upper Iowa 38-0.
The Wildcats’ Mickaela Keane won a match in each meet in her 207-pound division, while teammate Emma Heslin had a pair of wins at 103 and Sophia Bassino two victories at 160.
Against Davenport, Alissa Caltagirone at 145 pounds won by technical fall in just 55 seconds, while Bassino was a winner at 160 in 1:21 after Northern’s Keaton Hood lost in a decision at 138 to open the meet.

NMU’s Abbie Miles won her match in 56 seconds to put the Wildcats up 13-3.
Keane and Zhivanna Magdaleno each posted wins, the latter at 117, for another 10 points for their team, then Heslin won 6-2 at 103 to make the team score 28-3.
Finally, NMU’s Jamie Cook also earned five points with a pin at 124, while Northern had to forfeit at 131.
Against McKendree, Heslin opened with a loss by fall, then a forfeit at 110 made it 10-0 McKendree. Magdaleno, Cook and Hood also lost by falls, while a forfeit at 138 put the Bearcats up 28-0.
Caltagirone, Bassino and Miles each had narrow losses to puck up single points for the Wildcats, then Keane posted her 3-0 win by decision to end it.
In the blanking of Upper Iowa, the Peacocks had to forfeit at five divisions. Where there were contests, Heslin won in a tech fall in 1:04, Bassino won by tech fall even quicker in 58 seconds, then Miles won by fall in 36 seconds.
NMU returns to Illinois this weekend for the North Central Invitational in Naperville at 9 a.m. EST Sunday.
Five days later on Friday, Dec. 19, the Wildcats host their Northern Duals on a pair of mats at 9:30 a.m. for their only home meet of the season.
