Miles, a transfer from downstate Albion College who was a nationals qualifier last season, was seeded No. 1 at 180 pounds and received a bye into the semifinals.
Northern had three wrestlers participating in that weight division, with Clarissa Wangen and Mikaela Keane also entered.
There were 13 schools at the meet, including Grand Valley State and Upper Iowa joining NMU from the new Great Lakes Valley Conference.
In the semis at 180, Miles won by pin in 1 minute, 47 seconds over Wangen, who had won two earlier matches. In the finals, Miles scored a pin in 48 seconds over Kara Kuge of host Stevens Point.

With team totals unavailable or not kept, NMU wrestlers had a .500 record, 16-16 in all their matches.
Five of the 10 NMU participants reached the semifinals with four having top-five finishes.
Wangen, who was fifth at 180, opened with a technical fall victory at 43 seconds over Ella Creighton of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, then lost to Miles by pin in 1:47. She continued on with a 6-2 loss to Annetiese Tavira of Aurora, then faced Creighton again for fifth place and won by fall at 1:49.
Keane, who ended up third at 180, won by tech fall at 3:49 over Sifa Feruzi of Illinois Wesleyan, then lost to Kuge 10-2.
She came back for two more wins, downing Creighton 7-2 and taking out Tavira 7-1.
The Wildcats’ Alisa Caltagirone was runner-up at 145 pounds. She opened with a pin at 1:30 over Eliana Callies of Upper Iowa, then won by fall at 2:25 over Aine Moffit of Augustana (Illinois). In the finals, she lost 9-0 to Riley Hanrahan, listed as unattached.
NMU’s Sophia Bassino was fourth at 160, going 3-2 in five matches. She opened with pins at 37 seconds over Clara Rice of Elmhurst and 4:08 over Sydney Perry of North Central, then lost by tech fall to Elleni Johnson of Grand Valley.
She regained her momentum with a fall at 3:47 over Maryam Ndiaye of Augustana, then lost in the third-place match 8-6 in a rematch with Perry.
Northern’s Jamie Cook split her four matches at 124, losing by fall at 5:00 to Ayane Jasinski of Wartburg, then won by fall at 1:45 over Miriam Hopson of Grand Valley and at 5:30 over Amelia Adams of Stevens Point.
She finished with a loss by tech fall to Margaret Gillmore of Stevens Point.
The Wildcats’ Keaton Hood won a match at 138, by pin at 4:25 over Lanie Cecala of Augsburg, before losing a pair of matches, while teammate Samantha Chaon also won a match in that same division.
And NMU’s Zhivanna Magdaleno at 124 and Alyssa Keane also competed.
Next up for the Northern wrestlers is the Adrian Open at downstate Adrian College on Saturday. NMU has seven meets scheduled before the end of 2025, with another four in January before NCAA regional and national meets in February and March.
