MARQUETTE — Well over a dozen Northern Michigan University swimmers and divers have earned Scholar All-America honors for the 2024-25 season awarded by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America.

Announced on Tuesday, 14 of the 17 Wildcat athletes who were honored — seven of eight women and seven of nine men — actually earned the group’s First Team Scholar All-America award, with the other three earning Second Team.

To qualify for either honor, a student must have attained a 3.50 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale). First Team honorees had to also participate in their national championship meet, while Second Team must have met a “B” time standard for the nationals or qualified for a diving zone qualification meet.

In addition, both NMU teams also earned CSCAA Scholar All-America Team honors by each having cumulative GPAs of at least 3.00 in the fall semester.

In fact, the Northern women had a cumulative 3.64 GPA, one of 15 to have that high a GPA among the 68 NCAA Division II women’s programs earning the award. And the men were at 3.35 cumulative GPA, one of 56 among Division II men’s teams honored with the award.
