Podium domination: Northern Michigan University men’s, women’s nordic skiers pepper top spots at Coleraine CXC Cup meet
COLERAINE, Minn. — Both the men’s and women’s nordic ski teams from Northern Michigan University did quite well at the Coleraine CXC Cup that was rescheduled from Ishpeming after snow conditions were spotty about 10 days ago.

Karsrud leads NMU men
On Saturday at Mount Itasca, Northern claimed podium spots when Kristoffer Karsrud finished second and Luke Fricker third among Central Collegiate Ski Association skiers in the 7.5-kilometer freestyle race.
Karsrud, who was also third overall, clocked 18 minutes, 14.3 seconds, while Fricker was fourth overall in 18:19.8.
Teammate Mathias Haugen was 11th in the CCSA in 18:55.8, while Jonathan Clarke was 12th in 18:56.0. The Wildcats’ Hendrik Peterson clocked 19:22.0 and Cooper Lennox 19:33.0.
On Sunday in the classic 15K mass start, NMU took five of the top six spots, sweeping the podium.
Karsrud won in 40:48.7, Fricker was runner-up in 40:50.1 and Haugen was third in 41:12.0. Clarke came in fourth in 41:13.5

Dybwad paces Northern women
On Saturday, also a 7.5K freestyle for women, the Wildcats’ Victoria Dybwad was second among CCSA skiers in 21:29.8, while teammate Lauren McCollor just missed the podium in fourth in 21:52.4.
Teammates Henriette Nilssen was eighth in 22:15.6 and Flisa Ravald ninth in 22:38.1 among CCSA racers. And NMU’s Kolibri Drobish wasn’t far behind in 11th in the CCSA in 22:55.3.
Also from Northern, Jordan Parent posted 24:16.6, Ella Niznik 25:14.3 and Pearl Harvey 27:34.8.
On Sunday in the classic 15K mass start, Dybwad won in 46:50.9, 23 seconds ahead of the runner-up as Drobish was third in 47:35.3 and McCollor fifth in 47:42.1
Nilssen placed 11th, Ravald 12th, Harvey 15th, Parent 16th and Niznik 20th.
