Trent Rutter leads Superior Central Cougars boys basketball team past Mid Pen, 41-23

ROCK — Senior Trent Rutter scored seven of his game-high 11 points in the third quarter as Superior Central improved to 5-0 less than two weeks into the season with a 41-23 boys basketball victory at Mid Peninsula on Thursday.

Rutter led a Cougars’ 19-4 spree in the third that turned a somewhat competitive 18-7 game into a 37-11 rout entering the final period.

Seven SC players scored, which included junior Zander Bigger adding eight points and seniors CJ Adams and Logan Frusti contributing seven apiece.

Mid Pen’s Caleb Lofquist matched Rutter with 11 points as he scored all but three of his team’s 11 points through the first three quarters.

SC puts its hot start on the line at 7:30 p.m. Monday when the Cougars host North Central. SC also travels to Munising for a game at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
