MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University football team and new head coach Shane Richardson will hold open tryouts for students at the university near the end of this month at the Superior Dome.

The exact time and date has yet to be announced.

In order to participate, students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours for next fall semester at NMU and be in good academic standing.

In addition to and before being permitted to physically participate in a tryout, NMU requires that candidates provide this information:

• Documentation of a physical exam that was conducted by one of the following — a medical doctor, doctor of osteopathic medicine, physician assistant or nurse practitioner.

This exam must have occurred within six months prior to the start of the competitive season this past year.

• Completed and signed a Pre-Participation Evaluation form (available online)

• Proof of sickle-cell testing (form available online)

• Signed Consent to Treat form (available online)

Signed Assumption of Risk form (available online)

Tryout information along with the above forms can be found at this website — https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/sidearm.nextgen.sites/nmuwildcats.com/documents/2022/9/22/Tryout_Information.pdf?elinkdata=@ELINKDATA@&utm_medium=sidearm-email&utm_source=nmuwildcats.com&utm_campaign=Northern+Michigan+Football+to+Host+Open+Tryouts&utm_content=5117102d-52ce-4e8c-a67c-155ab2d1173d.

Those interested in trying out must contact assistant coach Jeff Fantuzzi via email at jfantuzz@nmu.edu to confirm their spot at the tryout.

The above information must be received by Northern Michigan University at least one week prior to the tryout.

The university reserves the right to disallow physical participation by any prospective student-athlete when there is concern for that person’s safety.

Participants are expected to provide their own cleats and workout gear.
