Negaunee volleyball team beats Marquette in 4 sets
MARQUETTE — Negaunee defeated Marquette in four sets in a high school volleyball match Tuesday.
“The girls put in a solid team effort against Marquette,” Miners head coach Krista Squiers said in an email. “I’m proud of their grit and fight after dropping the third set and battling through the fourth (set) to close out the night with the win.
“Marquette is a well coached team and we know we’re always in for a tough match when we face off with them.
“We had notable performances from several girls as well as players like Rylee Hanner and Abby McCollum step up to fill big roles for us when we needed it.”
For her team, Squiers noted that Elli Juchemich led the offense with 12 kills while also making three blocks and five digs. Ashley Bell contributed six kills, five digs and two service aces, while Madison Gendron had five kills.
