NEGAUNEE — Sports physicals will be available next week and fall practices start in less than two weeks for Negaunee Public Schools.

Physicals for 2022-23 athletes are available with Dr. Riley Torreano and will be conducted from 1 to 3 p.m. next Friday at Miners Dry. Cost is $15 and checks can be made payable to the Negaunee Booster Club.

Athletes must have a physical that was given on April 15 or more recently to be eligible to participate. Physicals taken next week will be good for the entire upcoming school year.

Practices and tryouts for all fall high school sports start on Monday, Aug. 8.

The first practices for football will be held at Miners Dry at 8 a.m. for the varsity team with the opening day of JV practice scheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.

Cross country and girls tennis both open practices at 9 a.m. on Aug. 8 with both sports at the high school.

Volleyball tryouts will be held at Lakeview Memorial Gym from Aug. 8-10.

For the varsity team, times are 8-10 a.m. on that Monday and Tuesday and 4-6 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

For JV, times are 10 a.m.-noon all three days, and for freshmen is 6-8 p.m. on all three days.
