Pietila, in her first NCAA regional, shot rounds of 78, 84 and 83 for 245 to tie for 50th place. Her 54-hole total was also the seventh-best individual score in NMU program history.

During the competition, hosted by William Jewell College, Pietila shot par on 29 holes, made bogey on 18 holes and double-bogey on seven holes, with no scores worse than that.

The nationally ranked Shoal Creek course is a par-71 despite being a lengthy 7,011 yards and has a course rating of 74.0 and slope of 135.

Pietila was one of just six golfers who qualified as individuals for the NCAA regional, as most of the field was from the 15 schools that qualified their entire team.

Those included GLIAC members Grand Valley State, Northwood, Wayne State, Saginaw Valley State and Ferris State, along with former GLIAC schools Findlay, Tiffin and Gannon.

Findlay won the regional with 873, led by co-individual titlists Jill Schmitmeyer and Mary Kelly Mulcahy, each with 214.

The Wildcats women’s team finished the season with five top-10 finishes.
