MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University has a number of mostly youth-oriented sports camps it will offer this month through the summer.

A recent count on an NMU web page under nmuwildcats.com — the full address is at end of this story — showed 22 camps. Despite “2021” as part of the website name, a click on multiple camps shows 2022 dates for them.

While one camp was already completed in March and three more currently are being held, that still leaves 18 camps that have yet to start.

On the main web page for these camps, NMU says that each “provides intensive, hands-on training from the Wildcats’ talented coaches.”

A credit card payment is required for registration as all camps can also be found at tickets.nmu.edu.

There are nine categories of camps — Strength & Conditioning, Ice Hockey, Girls’ Soccer, Swimming & Diving, Girls Basketball, Boys’ Basketball, Football, Volleyball and National Training Site Wrestling Camp.

Of the 18 upcoming camps, the one with the nearest start date is the Spring Wildcat Aquatic Swim Training Camp that runs from April 18 — next Monday — through May 5.

As an example, clicking on that camp name produces a page with a similar title and mentions the following details:

• It will be held at the Marquette Senior High School pool on the dates listed, actually sessions being held Monday through Friday in the late afternoon or early evening each of those days.

• There is a “Registration Options” box to the side that allows direct registration and payment for the various levels.

• The Green Session, which costs $95 per enrollee, is held from 5:15-6:15 p.m. each day. It’s meant for Green- and Junior Cat-level swimmers.

It adds that all sessions will focus on stroke correction, race strategies through the use of drills, and small swimming sets for endurance and water games.

• The Gold Session, which costs $125 per enrollee, is meant for Gold- and Senior-level swimmers and is held from 6:15-7:45 p.m. each day.

These sessions also focus on stroke correction, race strategies through the use of drills, and small swimming sets for endurance and water games.

It adds that personal summer goals will be taken into account for more individual sets.

The Master Session, which costs $95, runs from 6:30-7:30 p.m. each day. It’s set up for swimmers ages 18 years old and older who have completed Safe Sport training.

There are two more Swimming & Diving clinics coming up in mid-July.

Other categories with multiple clinics upcoming include Girls’ Soccer, Girls’ Basketball, Boys Basketball, Volleyball and National Training Site Wrestling Camp.
