NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Matt Duchene had two goals and an assist to lead the Nashville Predators to a 4-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday night.

Nick Cousins and Filip Forsberg also scored and Juuse Saros made 28 saves for Nashville, winners of two straight. Matt Tennyson had two assists.

“I thought the guys, really at the end of this stretch here, came out strong,” Predators coach John Hynes said. “I thought Detroit had a good push in the second period, but I’m just proud of the fact that guys were able to grind through this stretch of games and find a way to win.”

Adam Erne scored for Detroit, Alex Nedeljkovic made 21 saves. The Red Wings have lost two in a row.

Erne pulled the Red Wings within one with 1:09 left in the middle period. Fresh out of the box after serving a hooking penalty, Erne slipped behind the Nashville defense and received a perfect lead pass from Tyler Bertuzzi on a breakaway and beat Saros with a wrist shot on the stick side.

“I still think we’ve got to have a better shot mentality,” Detroit coach Jeff Blashill said. ” I think we’ve got to shoot for more chaos.”

Erne’s goal ended his stretch of 20 games without scoring. His last goal was scored Nov. 24 against St. Louis.
