Northern Michigan University weightlifter Lukas Zielke medals twice in Denver

The NMU junior from downstate Baroda competed in the 67-kilogram (147.7-pound) class, earning bronze and silver medals.
Competing against 15 other lifters in his weight class, he lifted 109 kg (240.3 lbs.) in the snatch and 141 kg (310.9 lbs.) in the clean and jerk for a 250 kg (551.2 lbs.) total.
His clean and jerk total earned him the silver medal and total was good for a bronze.
In past competitions while attending NMU, he has won each of the past two seasons at the Under-25 Championships and placed third at this year’s University National Championships.

The next team event for Northern’s weightlifting squad will be the University National Championships held March 4-6 in Columbus, Ohio.
NMU as a team claimed first place in the coed division at last year’s event.
