2 min read

MARQUETTE -- The Northern Michigan University men's basketball team produced its highest offensive output in nearly three years with a 102-65 victory over Concordia, Wisconsin, at the Berry Events Center in Marquette on Sunday.

The 102 points was the most by the Wildcats since they defeated Purdue Northwest 108-69 on Dec. 6, 2018.

The game began a three-game nonconference homestand for Northern, which improved to 3-1. The team's next game is at noon Saturday against St. Cloud State (Minnesota) before a noon Sunday game against Minnesota-Duluth.

Then NMU opens its GLIAC season at Northwood on Dec. 2 with only two more nonconference games on the schedule around the Christmas-New Year's holidays.

On Sunday, Nick Wagner made a layup with 15:10 to go in the first half that gave NMU a 9-8 lead that it wouldn't relinquish. The lead quickly expanded to 29-12 in the next four minutes, reaching 56-29 by halftime. It continued to steadily expand throughout the second half, too.

The Wildcats' Max Bjorklund led all scorers with 20 points, making 5 of 7 from the field as he hit on all four of his 3-point tries. He was also 6 of 7 at the free throw line, adding four assists and four rebounds.

Wagner finished with 16 points as he also hit four triples. Both Bjorklund and Wagner played barely half the game, Bjorklund with 21 minutes and Wagner with 20.

Northern's Sam Schultz added 15 points, three steals and three rebounds, while teammate Tre Harvey had 13 points, including three treys to go with four assists and two steals.

Northern's Ben Wolf led all rebounders with nine as he scored six points.
