Miners pull off road sweep

ESCANABA — Negaunee went on the road and pulled off a three-set sweep at Escanaba on Tuesday night in a high school volleyball match.

The Miners’ varsity won 25-22, 25-16, 25-16, while the Negaunee JV also prevailed in two straight sets, while Esky’s freshman were winners in two sets.

“I’m really proud of how aggressively these ladies played,” Miners head coach Krista Squiers said. “They put all the pieces together in this match and really worked well as a team.”

For the Miners, Josephine Thomson had five service aces, Summer Dudo an ace and eight set assists, Natalie Bell four kills and two aces, Mara Sorenson two kills and two aces and Raquel Carlson two kills.

Negaunee gets back on the court on Thursday night with a home match against Houghton.
