Iron Mountain slips past Ishpeming tennis team, 6-2

ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming High School girls tennis team pulled out a pair of doubles victories but lost to Iron Mountain 6-2 on Thursday.

At No. 1 doubles, the Hematites’ Addison Morton and Jenna Maki needed three sets to get past the Mountaineers’ Bella Brown and Anja Kleiman, 2-6, 6-4, 10-5.

And at No. 4, Ishpeming’s Kadie Kaukola and Kaitlyn VanDeuren had an easier time downing IM’s Hailey Greenleaf and Mia Vedin, 6-1, 6-0.

Both of the Hematites’ losses at the No. 3 flights also went to three sets. In singles, IM’s Natalia Brown eased past Ishpeming’s Emily DeMarois 4-6, 6-3, 12-10, while in doubles, IM’s Anika Cameron and Kensie St. John squeaked by IHS’ Ciara Schaffer and Emily Vial, 4-6, 7-6 (7-3), 10-5.
