NMU Sports: Cross country schedule set

By Journal Sports Staff

MARQUETTE — The Northern Michigan University women’s cross country team and head coach Jenny Ryan have announced their fall schedule, which features four regular-season invitationals leading up to conference and NCAA championship meets.

The season begins at the Northwood Invitational on Sept. 11 to be held at GLIAC member Northwood’s campus in downstate Midland. The Wildcats placed second at the event in 2019.

NMU heads to Wisconsin the following week for the Lucian Rosa Invite, which is hosted by another GLIAC member, Wisconsin-Parkside, in Kenosha on Sept. 18.

The Wildcats then have a short week as they go the following Friday, Sept. 24, to the Roy Griak Invite hosted by the University of Minnesota in St. Paul.

Northern finished seventh out of 32 teams in its division of the 2019 meet.

The Wildcats conclude the regular season at the Conference Crossover, hosted by Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, on Oct. 9. The meet has often been the largest regular-season event of the year for NMU.

Championship season kicks off with the GLIAC Championships, which this year will be hosted by Saginaw Valley State University at University Center near Saginaw and Bay City on Oct. 23.

NCAA regionals take place in Evansville, Indiana, hosted by the University of Southern Indiana, on Nov. 6.
