5 Negaunee Miners earn West PAC baseball awards

NEGAUNEE — Five Negaunee High School baseball players earned honors when the West PAC named its all-conference award winners recently.

Sophomore Keith Juidici was the lone Miners players named to the league First Team, while sophomore teammate Nicco Lukkarinen and juniors Gerald Johnson and Brenton Belanger made the Second Team.

Rounding out honors for Negaunee was junior Hunter Haanpaa earning Honorable Mention.

Iron Mountain dominated the awards, sweeping all three major awards while having a half-dozen other players also get honors.

Mountaineers senior Blake Julian was named Player of the Year, while sophomore Carson McLean earned Pitcher of the Year. And IM’s Paul Julian won Coach of the Year.

Second Team — Tom Voelker, sr., Calumet; Dryden Nelson, sr., Calumet; Reed Heathman, jr., Houghton; Caleb Evosevich-Hynes, sr., IM; Jonah Horning, jr., Houghton; Evan Haferkorn, soph., IM

Honorable Mention — Niko Bergoon, fresh., IM; Dylan Horning, jr., Houghton; Caden Lehto, sr., Calumet
