Munising, Superior Central boys win events at Rapid River track invite

RAPID RIVER — Munising picked up three firsts and Superior Central also got one at the Rapid River Invitational high school track and field meet held Thursday.

The Mustangs finished third with 59 points while SC was right behind with 53. Rapid River won with 163 and Stephenson was runner-up with 125 as seven teams scored.

Munising got wins from Ashton Wymer in the shot put with a heave of 36 feet, 7 inches, Micaiah Peramaki in the 100-meter dash in 11.8 seconds and Reagan Bowerman in the 110 hurdles in 21.37.

Though individual runners’ names weren’t available, Superior Central won the 400 relay in 48.53.

Also in the boys meet, Bowerman was second in the 300 hurdles and Peramaki was third in the discus and fourth in the shot put. Teammate Jesse Duron tied for fifth in the high jump.

The Mustangs were fifth in the girls meet with 56 points and SC seventh with 31 as Rapid River won with 125 and Stephenson second with 108.

Three Munising girls were runners-up — Monique Brisson in the 1,600, Sabryna Smith in the 400 and Jenna Matson in the 800 — while placing third was Smith in the 200.
