Isaac Lawrence, Leah McCracken lead Republic-Michigamme track at Hancock Invite

HANCOCK — Republic-Michigamme’s Isaac Lawrence and Leah McCracken recorded victories at the Hancock Invitational high school track and field meet held Tuesday.

Lawrence won the boys’ 200-meter dash in 23.96 seconds and long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 9 inches.

McCracken took the top spot in the girls’ shot put with a heave of 35-9 and was second in the discus.

Lawrence was also runner-up in the boys’ 100 while he ran with the Hawks’ second-place 1,600 relay team, joining Jacob Durden, Aaron Laakson and Gabe Dupont.

Dupont added a fourth place in the shot put.

Team-wise, R-M finished fifth in the boys meet with 41 points as Dollar Bay won with 132, Calumet had 94 1/2, Lake Linden-Hubbell 83 1/2 and Ewen-Trout Creek 78 1/2.
