Northern Michigan University lacrosse evens record at 1-1 with win Sunday

QUINCY, Ill. — Emily Renfrew scored four goals and assisted on two others as Northern Michigan University won for the first time this season with a 16-7 women’s lacrosse victory at Quincy University on Sunday.

The Wildcats (1-1) travel to Missouri to play Maryville at 1 p.m. today.

Renfrew scored twice in the first half as NMU built a 10-2 lead, getting it to 16-5 before the Hawks added two late goals.

Northern’s Madeline Bittell, Katelyn Mongold and Jessica Daniels each scored three times, while Tess Kostelec put in two goals and Shannon Walus one.

Renfrew and Bittell scored in the first 90 seconds to get NMU off to a 2-0 start.

Cam Stilson got the win in goal, making nine saves, while the Wildcats peppered Quincy netminder Kelly McClure with 34 shots on goal.
