Connor O’Dovero overtime goal puts Negaunee Miners hockey in win column
With sophomore Tyler O’Dovero getting the assist on the winner, Patrick Klumpp got his first start and first victory in goal for the Miners as he made 31 saves, including two in OT.
“Our young team has really come a long way in a short amount of time in this short season,” Negaunee head coach Dale Hopper said. “We have a lot to learn, but we have made big strides since we played them in our first game of the year.”
Kingsford opened the scoring with a goal from David Juul less than three minutes into the game with an assist going to Jack Perpich.
The Miners evened the score 1-1 barely more than two minutes into the second period as sophomore Nico Lukkarinen scored with an assist going to freshman Riley Williams.
Negaunee continued the early-period theme in the third, taking the lead about 3 1/2 minutes in when Tyler O’Dovero scored his first high school goal with assists going to sophomore Easton Palomaki and Connor O’Dovero.
But the Flivvers knotted things up again 2-2 when Carter Kreski scored off a pass from Hunter Fortner.
The Miners put 25 shots on the Kingsford net, including two in OT.
