Westwood Patriots volleyball team prevails in 5 sets over Ishpeming Hematites

ISHPEMING — Ishpeming lost its second straight five-set high school volleyball match this week, again falling in the final set 15-10, this time on Thursday at Westwood.

The Patriots prevailed 23-25, 25-21, 25-21, 17-25, 15-10.

The Hematites, who fell to 2-8, were led statistically by Olivia Corp with 14 kills and four blocks.

Teammate Megan Racine had 10 of her team’s 18 service aces to go with three blocks and four kills.

Ishpeming’s Madison McNab had five kills, while Hanna DeLoughary added 20 digs, two kills and two aces and Emily Morton contributed 13 digs and two aces.

The Hematites return to action on Tuesday at West Iron County, while Westwood plays again on Thursday at Calumet.
