Upper Peninsula cross country finals to be split between 3 sites

EAST LANSING — A number of changes were made to Michigan High School Athletic Association fall state tournament finals, though only one will affect teams from the Upper Peninsula.

Changes were approved at a Sept 30 meeting of the Executive Committee, which is comprised of officers of the larger MHSAA Representative Council.

In cross country, the U.P. Finals meet will be held at three sites instead of all runners converging at one site, which had been scheduled for Gentz’s Homestead Golf Course in Chocolay Township.

On Saturday, Oct. 24, Division 1 runners will travel to Presque Isle Park in Marquette, Division 2 at George Young Recreational Complex near Iron River and Division 3 at Pictured Rocks Golf Course in Munising.

Lower Peninsula sports adjusted were cross country, girls swimming and diving and girls golf.
