Seiler Hruska, Maria Millado lead Marquette Redettes’ volleyball sweep

MARQUETTE — Seiler Hruska made a dozen kills while Maria Millado had seven blocks as Marquette swept Gladstone in three sets in a high school volleyball match held at MSHS on Monday night.

The Redettes won 25-15, 25-15, 26-24 to improve to 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the Great Northern Conference.

Hruska added eight service aces and two digs to her kill total, while Millado also contributed seven kills and eight digs to her “block party.”

“It was a great night and it takes us one step closer in the GNC,” Marquette head coach Ann Crandell-Williams said. “We were able to experiment with some new things and be successful.

“Gladstone’s middle put up a great block and we had to cover our hitters and adjust some things around her, and our players were able to do that well.

“Our setters had a great night and really made some good choices in the right moments.

“Seiler also mixed up her shots well and found some open spots. It was a solid team win.”

The Redettes’ Taylor Marquardt added five aces, three kills and two digs, while teammate Ari Holder had eight digs, Celinda Brunswick five digs and Katelyn Dunleavy 11 set assists.

Next on Marquette’s schedule is a road match at Houghton on Monday.
