Northern Michigan University picks up top-25 indoor track finishes at competitive Big Meet

ALLENDALE — The Northern Michigan University picked up a number of top-25 finishes at the Grand Valley State Big Meet on Saturday that featured NCAA Division I and Division II entries.

It was the Wildcats’ final regular-season indoor meet with the GLIAC Championships taking place in two weeks at the same site on Feb. 29 and March 1.

NMU’s top finish was turned in by Jordan Butler, who was seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 10.97 meters (35.99 feet). Teammate Dunja Drobac was 13th with 10.63 meters (34.88 feet) and Brittan Ingalls 19th with 9.99 meters (32.78 feet).

The Wildcats’ 4-by-400-meter relay was eighth in 4 minutes, 5.37 seconds with Megan Martin, Paige Du Bosi, Morgan Lyon and Caroline Vegeberg.

Sophomore Maddie Campbell tied for 13th in the high jump by clearing 1.54 meters (5.05 feet), while Butler also tied for 13th in the long jump with a leap of 5.27 meters (17.29 feet). Teammate Ninti Little was 20th in the long jump with 5.19 meters (17.03 feet).

Calli Rechsteiner tied for 14th in the pole vault with a height of 3.21 meters (10.53 feet), while Mari McClure was 23rd with 2.91 meters (9.55 feet).

In the 200, Maria De Mingo Domenech was 19th in 26.11, while Du Bois was 22nd in the 400 in 59.29.

Coming in 25th was Hanna Torvi in the 3,000 in 10:35.17 and Ashtyn Buss in the weight throw in 14.59 meters (47.87 feet).
