Northern Michigan University basketball player Jessica Schultz tops among GLIAC women last week

MARQUETTE — Senior Jessica Schultz of Northern Michigan University basketball had career games on the road last week and was named the Women’s North Player of the Week by the GLIAC on Monday.

Schultz scored a career-high 26 points in the Wildcats’ 71-66 win at Saginaw Valley State on Thursday, then added another 20 points along with tying a career high with 14 rebounds in NMU’s loss at Northwood on Saturday.

Schultz’s contributions were critical as senior teammate Erin Honkala had to leave the SVSU game due to injury and didn’t return for the game at Northwood either.

Schultz set her previous career high of 24 points earlier this season against Wisconsin-Parkside.

Over the weekend, she scored 46 points, pulled down 18 rebounds and made eight blocked shots.
