Kingsford Flivvers hockey team flies past Negaunee, 8-1

IRON MOUNTAIN — Trey Bociek netted a hat trick and dished out two assists as Kingsford outscored Negaunee 8-1 Tuesday night at Mountain View Ice Arena in Iron Mountain.

Kingsford’s Hunter Fortner had two lamplighters to go along with two assists, while Reece Fortner recorded four assists. The Flivvers outshot the Miners 54-19 to reach the .500 mark at 11-11 overall with this Great Lakes Conference victory.

“We started out playing slow in the first period, and our forecheck was slow as well,” Kingsford head coach Greg Wadge said. “Our pace and overall play was much better in the second and third periods.”

Negaunee tied the game 1-1 near the midpoint of the first period when senior forward Tristan Pauna scored with assists going to senior defensemen Hunter Perry and Riley Luokkala.

Wadge noted the the Flivver defense moved the puck well, also noting that for the second game in a row, a dozen players made it in the scoring column of scoresheet.
