Westwood boys basketball team falls at West Iron County
STAMBAUGH — West Iron County won its boys basketball home opener with a 50-42 victory over Westwood on Monday night.
The game was a makeup from one that was postponed due to weather on Dec. 9.
The Wykons never trailed and were led in scoring by Nathan Thomson with 16 points. Peyton Williams and Justin Nelson each netted 13, with Nelson grabbing 13 rebounds and recording eight blocks.
For the 3-1 Patriots, Ty Alderton led all scorers with 20 points.
“I thought we played a very good defensive game,” WIC head coach Dan Schive said. “We’re working on the offensive side of things.”
Schive also noted that Peyton Williams played outstanding on both sides of the ball.
Westwood travels to Gwinn on Wednesday night before returning home to host Upper Peninsula top-ranked Iron Mountain on Friday night.
