Munising boys basketball team fends off Manistique Emeralds in overtime, 66-59

MANISTIQUE — They needed extra time in Manistique on Monday night to decide a winner between the Emeralds and the visiting Munising boys basketball team.

The Mustangs came out on top 66-59 after outscoring Manistique 9-2 in the extra period on the strength of making 7 of 8 free throws.

Junior Sam Brown led Munising in OT with five points on the team’s only basket and going 3 of 3 on free throws. He finished with 14 points, as did senior Austin Killips, who hit four 3-pointers.

But it was senior Josh Huotari that led the Mustangs in scoring with 18 points.

Munising freshman Kane Nebel only had six points, but four came on 4 of 5 free throws in OT.
