Jacob Kugler leads Ishpeming Hematites boys to second win of season

HANCOCK — The Ishpeming High School boys basketball team received a big night from senior Jacob Kugler, who went off for 28 points in the Hematites’ 63-38 road win over Hancock on Wednesday night.

It was Ishpeming’s second victory of the season, improving its record to 2-3.

The Hematites led 18-11 after one quarter and took a 33-24 lead into the locker room at halftime. It was the third quarter that allowed the visitors to pull away, scoring 18 points while limiting the host Bulldogs to four.

Kugler was followed in scoring by sophomore teammate Jayce Kipling with 12 points, while senior Ben Pruett finished with six.

Shooting and rebounding statistics weren’t available.

Ishpeming hosts Manistique (2-4) on Friday.
